Meet Alyssa, Speech Pathology Assistant

Why did you choose allied health? 

I have always been interested in exactly how we are able to speak and understand language. But I really became interested in allied health when my best friend described her experience with speech pathology and struggles throughout her childhood. This sparked my passion in making sure everyone is able to enjoy and live their lives to the best of their ability.

What are your preferred practice areas? 

I love working with children and teenagers! I am also quite interested in the language aspect of speech pathology at the moment, as well as pragmatics and general  social skills.

What do you enjoy doing on your weekend?

I love going to the beach, if I could be anywhere it would be swimming in the ocean! I also love trying to find the best iced latte and visit as many cafes as I can.

What is your favourite thing about your profession?

I love how this profession provides me with the ability to help others, who may not know exactly how to help themselves. I also love the ability to be able to work with children as it brings me a lot of joy.
