Meet Julia, Speech Therapy Assistant

About Julia

Why did you choose allied health?
I chose allied health because I’ve always had a deep passion for helping people achieve their goals in all areas of life. Growing up, I received a lot of support from allied health professionals who helped me become the person I am today. That experience really resonated with me, and I want to give back by helping others the way I was helped, particularly in areas of everyday living.

What are your preferred practice areas?
I’ve always had a strong connection to working with children and adolescents. This is such a crucial stage of development, and I believe that the impact of helping young people during this time stays with them for life. That said, I enjoy working in all areas of allied health because each one has its own unique set of challenges and learning opportunities.

What do you enjoy doing on your weekend?
On weekends, you’ll often find me playing sports, particularly cricket, which is something I’ve always loved. I also enjoy exploring the country by camping—it’s a great way to unwind. And when I’m not outdoors, you’ll probably catch me at a café, reading a good book.

What is your favourite thing about your profession?
My favourite thing about my profession is the ability to make a real difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s helping someone achieve a personal goal, improve their quality of life, or just offering support during a tough time, knowing that my work can have such a positive impact is incredibly rewarding.
